Difficulty in Symphony of War can be adjusted by the player to meet their needs.

Levels of difficulty

Level Description
Cadet The player takes 50% less damage, intended for casual story enjoyers.
Captain A balanced game mode meant to provide a decent challenge to the average gamer.
Warlord A hardcore game mode with increased enemy stats meant to challenge veterans.
Insane Unlocked by completing the game, there is unit permadeath

As of patch 1.0b permadeath is a toggled option.
