Units are the individual soldiers in Symphony of War. Up to 9 units can be grouped into a squad.

Unit Archetypes

A unit's archetype determines their stat growth when leveling up. To keep things organized; Unique classes are also sorted into their own category; but their members adhere to one of the other architypes.

Classes within specific types can be upgraded. Class upgrades come from Class XP (CP) gained through combat or CP items, which leads a unit to class mastery. Once that class is mastered, and they have the prerequisite stats and the army has the resources for it, the player can upgrade into higher tiers. Further still, once a Tier 3 or Tier 4 unit has reached max mastery it can be upgraded one last time using a Proof of Merit.png Proof of Merit, giving it a substantial all around stat boost but it can never change classes again.

Units

Listed below is a table containing a variety of units from Symphony of War. When Green Arrow Up.png promoting from one class to another (or Red Arrow Down.png demoting), the stat bonuses applied to each class are largely the same flat bonuses (though upgrading a Minimap Drakeling.png Drakeling into a Minimap Dragon.png Dragon seems to apply a ~12% increase in stats).


This tends to make promoting early offer a significant boost to a unit's overall performance, though softens the need to do so the later the game gets, were stat bonuses between tier 1 and tier 3 units are less significant.


Early game Minimap Fighter.png Fighters, Minimap Bowman.png Bowmen, Minimap Militia.png Militia, & Minimap Medic.png Medics start with ~100 HP and ~20 in most other stats they use, and end the game with ~300 HP and ~45 in their favored stats in addition to what the table below shows. At least: agonistic of a unit's Affinity. A unit's Affinity can boost their stats around by ~ +12% to ~ -12%.


Another key function in Symphony of War is the Volley of attacks a given unit participates in: when attacking a rival squad, all units in the same Volley attack together, and then the next. Good team-building usually aims to mix different Volley types together to spread out damage, otherwise an entire squad might dedicate their full efforts to killing a single unit.


Additionally: the majority of units in a squad will typically determine it's movement type. When it comes down to a tie, the game tends to prioritize the lesser Movement Type.


Furthermore: all stat bonuses listed below take into account bonuses from tech. Most Heavy Infantry and Heavy Cavalry receive HP.png +50 HP through upgrades, all Cavalry also receive HP.png +50 HP (for HP.png +100 total on Heavy Cavalry ), Supports (mainly the ones that can't attack) receive HP.png +20 HP, and the vast majority of Heavy and Light units also receive ARM.png +10 Defense from upgrades. As such, some of the HP.png HP and ARM.png DEF bonuses won't apply right away at the start of an adventure. These bonuses can create an especially interesting interaction for the Hero; who is considered a Heavy Infantry , Light Infantry , or Support class depending on their 3 class options.


Finally: Weapon.png Weapon and ARM.png Armor potency naturally increases with level, and the table below shows these values for a level 1 unit to a level 54 unit, were 54 is the highest achievable level in the game.


If no range is given, the Weapon.png Weapon or ARM.png Armor is a static value throughout the game. And if a negative value is listed, the value in game will be rounded up to 0 (the negative value is deduced from all Artifact bonuses, so to overcome -49 Armor on Magician units at least +50 armor will need to be applied, which would result in +1 Armor).
