Valkyrie
The Valkyrie is a Melee tier 3 heavy cavalry unit in Symphony of War. It's a great defensive front-line heavy cavalry and versatile unit. Their Magic Armor trait makes them resilient to enemy magic and dragon attacks, along with their usually high magic statistic. On top of this, they can perform healing on allies if they are significantly damaged in melee combat. In ranged combat, they will heal any wounded ally. They can perform one out-of-combat heal.
The differences between a Paladin and a Valkyrie are little when promoting a Priestess to either one of the next classes. The Valkyrie will have better hp, due to to the unit class changing to cavalry, which highly likely around chapter 10 and beyond. The other stats increases upon promotion are the same. The Valkyrie can heal out of combat as well. The Paladin does have better defensive capabilities, due to having the Guardian and the Magic Armor trait, the latter which both classes have. As the paladin is heavy infantry, the unit is not extra vulnerable to Polearm Warrior units. As a result, the paladin is the better defender, while the valkyrie is the better healer out of the two.
Regarding traits, there are the following options:
- Traits like Resolve, Unscathed, Bodyguard and Arcane Barrier are great to improve the defenses of the Valkyrie.
- Challenger and Concentration are good to improve their offense.
- Traits like Beacon will improve healing capabilities for themselves.
- The arcane traits, such as Arcane Might and Arcane Speed can improve their defensive and offensive capabilities as well. This works very with the Dark affinity.

- Battle actions: 2 Slashing attacks at 1 range or 1 Slashing attack and 1 heal if an ally is below 50% HP. Will heal allies in ranged combat once per phase.
- Special: If squad moved maximum possible range, this unit's 1st attack is a Charge Attack, which can Stun the target. Resists Magic and Dragon Breath attacks by 25% of this unit's armor value
